“You welcomed him back with success and prosperity. You placed a crown of finest gold on his head.” Psalm 21:3
The “You” in this text is God and the “him” is the king. The king here is returning from war to success and prosperity. The attitude of this text is gratefulness and thanksgiving. The king was faithful to do the work and honor the Lord in that work. And he returned into success and prosperity. The blessing of success and prosperity sometimes is monetary, but many times it is also the quality of life.
What I found to be the key for me in this is that sometimes I want the success and prosperity either before I put in the work or by putting in as little work as possible. When you go to war you better be in it to win it. When you and I put in the work, we need to be in it to win it but yet in a way that pleases the Lord. When we do that we can know we will return to step into God’s blessing of success and prosperity... whether monetary or otherwise.
